The Power of His Love

It's awesome how God speaks to us through music and lyrics. A simple song that I used to like at home has now become the cry of my heart here in the DR......

Lord I come to you
Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace that I've found in You
Lord I've come to know
The weaknesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the Power of your love

HOld me close, let your love surround me
Bring me near draw me to your side
As I wait, I 'll rise up liek the eagle and I will soar with you
Your spirit leads me on
By the power of you love

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see you face to face
Knowledge of your love as you live in me
Lord renew my mind
As your will unfolds in my life
Living everyday in the power of your love

One of my favorite songs, Ali. I'm so glad that God is using it to speak to your heart so many miles away. I look forward to continue to hear all the ways that Jesus moves through you. Kory and I are still looking for an address. No luck yet, but we aren't losing hope!

Ali,
I can tell you are growing alot already even in a short time. Now you probably understand the meaning of the phrase "growing pains". It hurts to grow sometimes. That's one of those mysteries of our God...how He allows us to have tough, stretching experiences, to feel so uncomfortable that we just want to be somewhere else...and in those times He does some of the most amazing work in us that could not happen any other way. Every day when I think of where you are, I am just so proud that you "went for it" and are doing something that 90% of us would never think about.
Here's an idea: Every time you are feeling a little homesick, think about how much you would like to see Mama, Papa, Nathalie and Miguel in heaven with you. You and Monica just may be the ones God picked a long time ago to show them the way to heaven through Jesus Christ. So when you need a hug from home, give one of them a hug that communicates the love of Jesus.
We'll be praying!
Love,
Cindi

I was thinking today about how hard it must be to go through "culture shock." And then I thought of what a culture shock it must have been for Jesus to come from heaven with all its beauty, to earth and be born in a smelly stable...

We love you, hon, and we're praying for you and for your Dominican family, too.
